Core idea
Pairwise choices become a personal movie ranking.

Why I made it

Choosing between two movies I love tells me more than giving both of them four stars. I wanted a ranking system that behaves more like taste actually does: comparative, contextual, and sometimes a little painful.

What I built

Duel Cut turns repeated head to head movie choices into an evolving personal canon. The duel is the input; the ranking is the output. Instead of asking for an abstract score, the product keeps presenting a simpler question: which one wins?

The product logic

The experience is intentionally narrow. Search and add movies, compare them in duels, then watch the ranking change as more decisions accumulate. Rankings and insights give the choices a payoff without interrupting the basic loop.

Design direction

I treated the interface more like a midnight repertory cinema program than a generic ratings dashboard: dark, poster led, direct, and built around the tension of the matchup. The visual system stays out of the way of the movie art while making each decision feel consequential.
